Ben Estabrook met RawDANCE’s Wendy Rein and Ryan Smith during their residency and filmed the material for this film in one day. They weren’t exactly sure what they wanted to make with it and so it sat in waiting for almost three years. But alas, they decided to bring the footage to me with a feeling of what they were looking for. With only a few words of inspiration, the footage came to life. This “laboratory” is an opportunity for three teams of local artists — professional filmmakers, choreographers, dancers and composers — to create three short dance films in one week.
